Rhonnie Rea founded Rea’s School of Dance in 1963 on Malone Road. She ran the one-room studio until 1988, when one of Rea’s students, Mary Muntz, took over the school. Mary renamed it Center Stage Dance Company and offered tap, jazz, acrobatics, and hawaiian dance. Since then, CSDC has discontinued the jazz, acrobatics, and Hawaiian classes, adding ballet, modern, and the Theatre Arts and Tour Group programs. Every summer the studio held a performance showcasing dances students learned throughout the year.  The dances in the show followed a common theme which changed each year. Stephanie Muntz, the daughter of Mary Muntz began running the school in 2011, and the studio began their annual “July Portfolio Production” with multiple themes and stories within each performance.

CSDC is a small dance school for children ages 2.5 to 18 in the Willow Glen area of San Jose, California. Students at CSDC not only learn tap, ballet, and modern technique, but also receive instruction in basic sewing skills, public speaking, time management, choreography, and crafts. Students typically start in our Pre-Dance or Junior Dance Program between the ages of 2.5 to 6 and many continue their education with CSDC into the Epaulment Program when they are 18 years old. 

CSDC not only offers an education in dance, but provides a life long community and family for students. The CSDC environment promotes healthy lifestyle choices through exercise and balanced diet, encourages creativity, self expression and dedication through team work. Students have owenreship to all projects they work on as CSDC promotes student involvment in many aspects of each production.
