We are gearing up for another great season at CSDC and we hope everyone is excited to get started on some new projects for the fall. Returning students should receive their class assignments in the mail within the next week.
We are currently taking enrollment applications for new students in our Pre-Dancer Program, and Junior Dancer Program. If you are interested in signing up for either of these classes please email us at email@example.com. A brief description of each program is listed below.
- Ages 2-4 years old
- 45 minute class once a week (Sometimes lengthened to one hour long once the students settle into the class structure. This will be discussed with the parents of the students later in the season.)
- Ballet/Tap combo
- Parents are encouraged to stay and watch each class from the side of the classroom
- September to mid-May
- Season concludes with our annual Mini Show on May 16
Junior Dancer Program:
- Grades K-1st
- One hour class once a week
- Ballet/Tap combo
- Parents are asked to watch classes only during designated Parent Observation Weeks
- September to mid-July
- Students eligible to participate in the July Portfolio Production
Tomorrow is the start of tech week, the week that leads up to the show! While this is exciting, there are some things to keep in mind:
Tickets will be on sale during dress rehearsals on Thursday and Friday. Tickets are $15 a person, and can, if you prefer, be put on call under your own or your guest’s name. Be sure to thank your cashier, as everyone selling our tickets is a volunteer!
Along with tickets, CSDC merchandise can be purchased whenever tickets are being sold, however, t-shirt and tank top sizes are limited to whatever is left.

Tote Bags – $5
The tech week calendar is located on the website’s calendar page. Be sure to arrive 30 minutes early to your time slot whenever the schedule doesn’t specifically tell your dancer to arrive early. The only time this does not apply is at the dance building. Also, be aware that if you miss any of your tech week rehearsals at any point, you cannot participate in the show.

The countdown is on, there are sixteen days left until the July Portfolio Production!

In addition, CSDC T-Shirts, tank tops, and tote bags are on sale at the studio, be sure to get yours before they run out. The prices are: $7 for T-shirts, $9 for tank tops, and $5 for totes. We have a variety of sizes in stock and each item is unique because they are hand-printed and designed by students at the studio!
Now that school is out, daytime rehearsals have started! However, regular classes will still continue until July 4th. From there we head into tech week at the Santa Clara University Mayer Theater. The rehearsal schedule for tech week can be found listed under the calendar tab.
Tickets for the 2014 July Portfolio Production will be available for pre-sale beginning June 30th. They will also be sold at dress rehearsals during tech week and at the door 30 minutes before each show.
Enrollment applications for the 2014-15 season are located on the front and back doors of the studio. Please fill one out as soon as possible if you are thinking of signing up or returning next season. The schedule for the 2014-15 season will be available after the JPP.

For those of you who are enrolled in tap/modern combo, or tap and modern separately, you are eligible to participate in an extra “Invitational Dance” in the show. For those of you in the Tuesday 8:00 and Wednesday 6:00 ballet classes, you are also eligible to participate in our new project called “Company Class”. You should have received an email recently with more details about both programs. You can also find a brief description on the July Portfolio Production page. Contracts are due January 10th!

Join the artists to talk about their work after their performance at the reception.
Three years ago we began a new project for a select group of our modern students. It was a small class of 6 students who each choreographed a dance for their peers to perform in a small show at our studio. We have since expanded our Student Choreography Project to involve three modern classes giving us a total of 39 young choreographers!
Four works will be presented this season at the SCP performance: Two explore the creativity inspired by limitations and choreographic restrictions, another is an abstract representation of the story of Cinderella, and the last is a group reflection on the obsession with money and physical beauty. Please join us for an evening of original work by these young artists!
Performance will take place in the back lot of the studio, plenty of space for everyone, just remember to dress warm!
The CSDC 2013 July Portfolio Production
ACT 1: The Human Brain
This season modern company members have been exploring the functions and different parts of the human brain. In act 1 they will present an abstract representation of what and how the brain works.
ACT 2: Legends of the American West
Through tap and ballet, company members represent the life and adventures of Billy the Kid, Annie Oakley, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, as well as Belle Starr and the James and Younger gang.

Seating is first come first serve.
The show is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes and will have a 15 minute intermission between acts.
All studios are quickly getting into recital season, so get your shoes and tights for our Portfolio Production early this year! Details on the type and color of shoes and tights each dancer will need can now be found on the July Portfolio Production page and will also be sent home with each dancer this week in a hand out. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions!
