Attention 3:30 classes!

If you have not participated in our July Portfolio Production before please come to our “New Parent Coffee” on Saturday January 28th at 9:00 am.

It is very important for you to attend this meeting. We want to make sure you know what is expected of you and your dancer between now and July.

We will explain the extra weekend rehearsals, mandatory tech week at the theater, backstage rules (no boys, 1 mother/female guardian for every 2 children, where you can and can’t go, no food allowed, what you need to bring, what kind of make-up your dancer should wear…ect), when tickets go on sale, where to park at the theater, which types of shoes and tights you need to purchase…..and so much more!

We cannot emphasize enough how important your attendance to this meeting is!

We are very strict when it comes to our July production and you are responsible for understanding the production rules and enforcing them with your dancer.  Any absences from mandatory rehearsals or rules that are broken because you were uninformed will not be forgiven. Ignorance is no excuse.

This may sound intense; however it is all to ensure the best learning experience for all of our students.

Songs From the Nutcracker 2011

Our “Songs from the Nutcracker” performance is to give our ballet students another performance opportunity and a chance to learn about the Nutcracker Ballet. Like last year, we will not be including all of the songs or telling the whole Nutcracker story. The dancers will simply perform selected highlights from the ballet. This is an optional performance and is a much simpler show than our July Portfolio Production. Students will learn simple dances in their ballet classes between September and December to perform in the intimate 100 seat Fess Parker Theater at Santa Clara University. If a student decides not to participate or can not participate for any reason, we expect them to still attend their ballet class. Even if they will not be performing, learning choreography is always a great way to improve technique. This performance is offered only to students who attend ballet as a separate class from their tap and modern class.

Location: Santa Clara University Fess Parker Theater
Dress Rehearsal: Friday December 9th
Show Dates: Friday December 9th, Saturday December 10th
Production fee: $20 per family
Costume fee: $10 per dancer

Dancers will be asked to provide their own: black leotard, ballet pink tights (need to be able to wear as footed tights), and ballet shoes.

Please confirm your place in the Nutcracker with your production and costume fee payment by the end of October.

More information soon!

First Ballet Class & Back to School Coffee

We are asking parents and guardians to attend their dancers first ballet class of the season. At this very important meeting we will go over the dress code, studio rules, talk about The Nutcracker and other important events on the calendar, as well as give you some tentative information about the show next July. Because it is very important that parents and guardians receive all of this information, we are also offering a “Back to School” Saturday morning coffee (September 10th, 9:00-10:00 AM) for those of you who are unable to attend your dancers class during the first week. Classes begin September 6th, the day after Labor Day.

Sunday June 26th Four Seasons Rehearsal

On Sunday June 26th we will have a full rehearsal for all of the ballet dances in the production. Many of the dances overlap and we have scheduled rehearsal so that each class has time to practice with the other classes they will be performing with. This rehearsal is not mandatory as we realize that many families may have obligations on the weekends, however we strongly encourage the dancers to come to their designated time slot if they can. This will help to clarify many questions they may have regarding the other classes and will allow dress rehearsal to run smoothly.

This rehearsal will be held at Center Stage.

Dancers in the 4:30, 5:45 and 7:00 classes should wear their ballet dress code: Black leotard, Ballet pink tights, ballet shoes, hair in bun.
