An introduction to CSDC Junior dancer program for students starting Kindergarten in the fall of 2024. This class will allow incoming kindergarteners a chance to get to know the studio and become familiar with how classes at CSDC are structured as well as some of the basics of tap and ballet technique. Lessons will include learning basic tap and ballet steps, fun songs, rhythm and coordination exercises and lessons in taking turns and working as a group. A parent/guardian is asked to stay for the lessons until the student is comfortable being dropped off. This is to be discussed on an individual basis after the first 3 weeks. Parents/guardians are encouraged to stay for all 6 weeks so that they too can get to know CSDC.

Dates to note and enrollment details:
Intro to CSDC classes will run from mid March through mid May. CSDC is closed the week of April 8-12 for spring break. We will have a demonstration performance at the studio during the 7th week.
Wednesday class: Mar 20, 27, Apr 3, 17, 24, May 1, demonstration: May 8
Friday classes: Mar 22, 29, Apr 5, 19, 26, May 3, demonstration: May 10
Intro to CSDC students will not be a part of our big summer production but will receive free tickets for themselves and their parents to attend. This performance is on June 21/22 at Santa Clara University Mayer Theater and is a great chance to see our students in action!
Each class will need a minimum of 4 students to start. To sign up, email staff.csdc@gmail.com to recieve paperwork and to arrange a time to stop by the studio for a tour. Once a class has at least 4 students signed up, I will send out an email to confirm the start date. If a class does not receive enough sign ups by the start of March, I will email each family individually to discuss our options.
Covid precautions and absence policy:
We are grateful that the risks of covid are getting less severe in our community. Here at CSDC we are still requiring all students to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to sign up but are no longer requiring masks to be worn. You can provide a photo of their vaccination card or fill out a certification of vaccination form when enrolling. When sick, we ask that students do not attend class so as to not spread anything. We do ask that masks are worn If your student has been around someone who is sick.
There are no refunds/discounts on tuition when students are absent. If class is canceled due to the instructor being ill, a refund or make-up lesson will be arranged.
Before your first lesson:
We find it is helpful for the student to come by the studio before the first lesson so we can meet and the student can see the studio. Pleas email to arrange a time for a tour!
Shoes and Dance clothes:
We have a dance shoe recycle system with both tap and ballet shoes from students as they outgrow them. When you stop by the studio for a tour, we can also look through the shoes together to find you a pair for your first lesson. If you want to purchase shoes, see our website for some shoe guide information.
The dress code for our classes is listed in detail on our dress code page. We also have many donated black leotards from students which are available to look through when you stop by the studio.
